SAN JUAN ISLANDS MEDICAL RESERVE CORP REGISTRATION IS PENDING – TO BE CONFIRMED JUNE 15, 2025
A newly formed Medical Reserve Corp is coming to San Juan Islands soon. Medical professionals in the San Juan Islands MRC may work in emergency situations to provide medical and psychological support at shelters and local clinics, in neighborhood assembly areas or elsewhere as needed.
When it’s not an emergency, MRC members also promote community well-being and preparedness by teaching Disaster First Aid, including to San Juan Islands Community Emergency Response Team volunteers, supporting local Fire & Rescue and engaging with community partners to plan for disasters.
How We Do It
To provide emergency medical support, MRC members need skills beyond the usual office or even hospital practice, including emergency/first responder skills and the ability to practice in austere conditions with limited supplies, equipment and specialist support. Thus the MRC provides training opportunities in needed skills, such as Psychological First Aid, Disaster First Aid and Wilderness First Aid, both to MRC members and to the wider emergency preparedness community. We also have a monthly training meeting for our members, with information and skills practice to improve and maintain our readiness. To find upcoming training opportunities, please visit our Education Calendar.

The San Juan Islands Medical Reserve Corps supports our communities by providing medical support when we are deployed. All active or previously licensed healthcare providers are welcome and encouraged to join, and regular training is available.
