HERE IS THE PLAN:  Each household will have a FRS or GMRS radio that you will purchase from San Juan Islands PREPARE (cost $25 – $50 per radio, including training and follow-up drills). Your radios will be pre-programmed to a designated channel for the ZONE where you live.  We will train you how to use your radio and communicate clearly during an emergency.   When you use your radio to call for help, and FIRST RESPONDERS are busy, as predicted after a 9.0 earthquake/tsunami, your ZONE LEAD will call San Juan Islands PREPARE  LOGISTICS.  Depending on your needs, you will be connected to Medical Reserve Corps (doctors, nurses, physicians, counselors), CERT – Community Emergency Response Team (light search & rescue, small fire suppression, first aid, building safety assessment), or San Juan Islands PREPARE Volunteer Corps (provisions, food, water, diapers, blankets, etc), Disaster Hubs, shared housing or land for camping /camping equipment for displaced people, pet care, equipment, tools, generators, transportation assistance and more.
